Indigenous Australian Art
'Art' is such a large umbrella of creative activities, and we are having so much fun exploring some of these here at kindergarten. Recently we learnt a bit about Indigenous Australian art, and we even tried our hand at some of the symbols to create our own 'rock story'. Take a look at this awesome creation!

Phoebe's felt tip drawings
Phoebe started off drawing her zebra alongside her mum, and as they drew they focused on one part of the zebra at a time, paying attention to detail and coming up with some fantastic looking zebras. Role modelling is a great way to help children learn about first thinking and observing before drawing.
The next morning Phoebe revisited the easel alone, and very carefully drew a stunning elephant - great job!

Showcasing children's art work

A slight dilemma...
We were so lucky to have 4 talented children create some very special art work for our new awesome art blog header, but a dilemma arose as there is only space for one header ... which one do we choose?
The 4 pieces of art were placed in a voting booth, where each child was given time to study and appreciate each one, and then make their decision based on their own individual taste in art. Each child was given a voting slip, which they named and marked when they had made their choice.
Thanks to all the children who helped to make this tricky decision, and to our clever artists - Melissa, Azania, Caitlyn and Mia!
Children's choice award - Azania - well done!
